Sakku introduces its new line of solar bags, called Buddy. Sakku known for its environmentally friendly efforts stays true with this line. The bags are made from 100% recycled materials from umbrellas and sun shades.

Bags come in two versions, a direct charge version or a charge and store version with an on board storage cell. These colorful re-purposed bags go for $274.68 or $384.44 for the battery equipped model.

Architect Sheila Kennedy, known for her widely publicized Portable Light project where she proposes the use of Wearable Electronic for the other 90% by integrating solar panels into bags has applied the same principle to curtains: gathering solar power from everyday goods.Sheila’s Solar curtain is part of her ‘Soft House‘ showing how traditional architectural materials can be transformed into electricity generating elements which can one day provide a significant part of the electrical power needs for its inhabitants. The energy curtain was a research project funded by the Swedish Energy Agency.

They use a flexible Solar panel which seamless melts into the bags design gives it the sophisticated travel appearance. The internal battery and convienint compartments allow to easily tote, store, and charge your gear. For $377.00, this is not to bad for a fine Italian made bag.
