Brando Workshop WiFi Detecting Hat

Brando Workshop has released another interesting product. WiFi Detection Cap finds 802.11 b/g/n signals. Using LEDs, one to show network availability and the other to show strength. The hat come is two varieties, a laptop design or a XM like design, and three colors: red, white, black). The two CR2032 batteries are included.Funny thing about this hat is that the wearer cannot actually see the activity while wearing it. Maybe this is an accessory to the Firebox WiFi shirt, or the ThinkGeek Wi-Fi shirt. Well for $14.00 it is a fun toy.

Nike just launched its Nike+ SportBand. This band shows you your distance, pace, running time, and calories burned when mated with a Nike+ running shoe. Unlike GPS based units this one can be used indoor also.This latest version is water resistant, easier to read display and comes in many colors. This device also links to iPod Nano, Touch or iPhone to hear your data as you run. This is nifty for a mere $59.00.

Hammacher Schlemmer Metal Detector Sandals

Hammacher Schlemmer is selling wearable metal detectors that let you find buried treasure with your feet. The 9v battery powered coil straps to your calf. Using a coil built into the sole, the sandal is said to have a detection depth of up to 2 feet. LEDs, speakers and a vibration motor alert the wearer of potential treasure. Silent Call Deaf Assistance Silent Touch Watch

For the hearing and vision impaired, the world can be very limiting. Silent Call tries to provide a level of freedom for these people. The Silent Touch provides visual and vibration for certain events. Events such as doorbell, phone, smoke alarm, fire alarm, burglar alarm trigger the watch to activate within a 300 foot range.This watch works with the Sidekick II system from Silent Call. Evolved Footwear Lighted Sneakers

Brandon Laskowski a Northwest senior marketing major found his passion for sneakers in 2001. In 2005 due to the demand, Brandon started selling his customized Nike Dunks online under the name Evolved Footwear.Some of the techniques include textured faux snake and gator skins, engraving, peel aways, light up, fabric, painting and more. Shown here are the ‘Illuminated Confusion‘ Nike Dunk features a pattern print with neon green light-up lateral sides that either blink or glow. Sign Language Translating Glove

A few days ago we wrote about the HandTalk glove designed by Carnegie Mellon students. We also thought that was an original concept. False. Turns out in 2001 the concept was created by Ryan Patterson.

Patterson imagined this concept while sitting in a restaurant and seen a def patron having a hard time conveying an order. Looking to make this happen for a science fair, he began his mission. A mere 7 months later his Sign Language Translator concept was complete.

What does this mean? Ryan’s Sign Language Translator was a Grand Award winner in the 2001 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, the first place winner in the individual category at the 2001 Siemens Westinghouse Science & Technology Competition, he received top ..read more
