
Italian’s fashion company Ermenegildo Zegna is extending it’s Wearable Electronic collection after entering this market with the iJacket and the planned launch later this year with the Bluetooth iJacket under the Zegna Sport collection.
At the currently running men’s fashion show Pitti Uomo in Florence / Italy, Zegna showed the Solar JKT, an outdoor jacket with solar cells integrated into the collar.
Two solar modules, one on each side, convert the sun’s energy into electricity. The electricity is routed via conductive textile cables to a buffer battery, which can be used to charge a device directly or store the power until needed.
The solar modules measures 9 centimeters by 5.5 centimeters each and can generate up to 1 watt of power by full sunlight.

Avantex and Techtextil 2007 will open its doors on June 11 for 4 days of highly interesting seminars and exhibitions on the future of clothing and textile innovation.

Introduced during the CeBIT 2006 in Hannover (Germany) this month by Interactive Wear AG, the GPS/Galileo Demo Jacket knows where it is.The Know-Where-Jacket has a mobile phone, an MP3 player, headphones, a microphone and a waterproof sleeve keypad as well as an emergency call button.
But one more feature makes this demonstrator unique: the integration of a terminal that is referred to as a ‘GPS eye’ which is used for determining and transmitting the position of the wearer of such a Jacket, based on GPS technology.
In this way, it is not only possible to determine the location of the jacket’s wearer, it is also possible for GPSoverIP to enable real-time determination of the person’s location within a building.

Reusch, a company we posted some time ago about their Sonic Glove for the iPod, has announced today together with Interactive Wear AG the Solaris ski-gloves for the Fall/Winter season 2007/2008.Interactive Wear developed a new technology platform called “iTermX” which is a heating solution for any kind of textiles that is smaller, lighter and more flexible than conventional solutions on the market.
