Cute Circuit has its Galaxy Dress on display aat the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. This dazzling dress features 24,000 LEDs and is a truly stunning piece of tech clothing. The dress is made with 2mm by 2mm LEDs woven into a silk chiffon and organza crinoline fabrics. This makes the dress more flowing and wearable. Power comes from several iPod batteries that are hidden into the garment itself. This is perhaps the most tasteful LED garment to date.

The Hug Shirt first posted about here is a concept created by the fabulous team of Francesca Rosella and Ryan Genz. The founders of CuteCircuit, have taken on the challenge to bring this great idea to reality.

Much has been written and said about the Hug Shirt but it seems this, once seen as ‘just a concept’ idea, is reaching the next level, being a product that consumers can buy.

So what exactly is it? The Hug Shirt is basically a Bluetooth accessory, according to CuteCircuit, that works together with Java enabled cellphones.

Avantex and Techtextil on The Future of Clothing and Textile Innovation

Avantex and Techtextil 2007 will open its doors on June 11 for 4 days of highly interesting seminars and exhibitions on the future of clothing and textile innovation.

It is the second time those two events are held at the same time and the same place. CuteCircuit, an Interaction Design and Wearable Technology company has got wide media coverage end of last year with the nomination of the Hug Shirt as one of the innovations of the year by Time Magazine.What looked at first as a concept study back in 2004 on Wearable Electronics turned out to hit the sweet spot in the consumer base.

Wearable Electronics have come a Long Way

VDC Corporation has send out a press release that gives a summary of last weeks Smart Fabrics 2007 Conference in Washington DC. According to VDC’s analyst Tim Shea, the Smart Fabrics Conference has come a long way since the first wearable technology conference in NYC back in 2001.

 What started in 2001 with an audience of around 50 ‘far-out techies’, university professors/students and ‘cyborgs’ reached at this years Smart Fabrics an attendance of over 125 technical, general management and investment professionals – few if any resembling cyborgs – and was supported by several exhibitors with real products.
