Adidas

You know what sucks about most soccer cleats? They are dumb as dirt. Not so anymore. Adidas has perfected their first pair of “intelligent” cleats. They are dubbing them the F50 adiZeros and they just might change how you think about soccer footwear. This, of course, won’t matter to Americans since we don’t play soccer. Oh well.

These cleats are powered by the miCoach power cell, which means access to all sorts of tech goodies. The chip records your speed, sprint times, distance, step and stride rates, stores it for up to seven hours and squeezes it over WiFi or USB to the device of your choice. Of course, you can share all of this information with the social network of your choice. It is 2011, after all.

Adidas. That company is always up to something. Up to bat now? A wearable, virtual coach that does all kinds of cool stuff. Really. Think of this thing as you own, private Pat Riley. You know, except without all of the expensive suits.

Designer Sebastiaan Pijnappel and Adidas has been cobbling this wearable coach concept for a while now. The general idea is that the device plays musical notes that correspond to certain movements. Strike just the right ones and you know you’ve gotten in the zone.

The device has only been tested with pitches for now. The results, however, have been positive. No word on when this concept would enter the realm of reality. Until then, we’ll have to settle for those boring flesh and blood coaches.

You are a geek. This means, unless the prequel trilogy ruined it for you, you love Star Wars. This love is about to get exploited even further, thanks to Adidas and their new line of Star Wars-themed clothing items.

Being the company is Adidas, most of the clothing items are shoes. There are several designs available and, frankly, they are pretty cool. Also pretty cool? Jar Jar Binks doesn’t make one single appearance on any of them. They are officially safe to wear, meesa thinkso.

Shoes aren’t the only thing on the company’s galactic agenda, though. The company is planning a full line of related coats and jackets as well. The flight jacket is already available for around $130.

Adidas_1 Intelligent Sneaker

Adidas has launched the intelligent shoe it unveiled last year. Known as adidas_1, the shoe provides “intelligent cushioning” by automatically and continuously adjusting itself. It does so by sensing the cushioning level, using sensors. It then calculates whether the cushioning level is too soft or too firm via a microprocessor and adapts with a motor-driven cable system to provide the correct cushioning for the specific purpose at that time. A prime example of the convergence process in which computers are embedded in everyday objects to enable them to play their role more effectively, the adidas shoe is one of a number of intelligent clothing items arriving at market this year. Available now, adidas_1 costs US$250 or 250 Euros.

The shoe will be launched on television in the United States ..read more
