Watches

Hublot makes the kinds of watches that not even the richest of the rich can always afford. In short, they utterly define luxury. CEO and former watch designer Jean-Claude Biver puts the kind of thought and foresight into his watches that would make your average watchmaker blush. Guess what? The company’s new King Power F1 Tourbillon is no exception.

Sparing no expense, the watch is available in both zirconium and “king gold.” This limited to 50 units watch is 48mm wide and was designed by Mathias Buttet. The coolest thing here is the movement. As you can see the watch features gads and gads of moving parts. It’s like watching a digital city as you stare into it’s lovely and expensive eyes.

Did I say expensive? You bet I did. Like all ..read more

Tokyoflash has always been on the cutting edge of watch design. The company has recently resurrected their famous Rogue line of watches. The hook? These watches now feature a pretty nifty combo LCD/LED display up front.

The display is always on and still manages to keep battery use at a minimum. The screen comes colored in red, blue, orange or green. It is your choice, as seen in the photo above. Time is told via noticing where the gaps are within the screen. It may require more mental acumen then just reading numbers, but come on, not that much more.

The watches are available now for $179.

Just like the Garmin units before it, the Polar RCX5 seeks to be your one-and-only wearable fitness supercomputer. It may just have done it, actually.

The unit uses a variety of sensors to measure just how much good stuff you are doing to your body as you writhe around in agony while wearing short shorts. You know the drill. GPS, heart beat, calories burned, distance ran, all sent via Bluetooth to another device.

The basic pack costs $350 which includes the unit and plus the WearLink+ Hybrid, an amphibious chest-strapped heart rate monitor. There are other bundles as well. There’s a bike bundle costs $390 and includes Polar’s CS W.I.N.D. speed sensor that installs on a fork and spoke. The Run bundle costs $420 and comes with a s3+ stride sensor that ..read more

Cool watch alert! Cadence has announced their 4-bit chronograph watch, which is about a fine a timepiece as we ever did see. Look at how geeky and cool this thing is.

Oh yeah, it’s not only cool in the looks department, it also boasts a host of useful features. Cadence’s new baby is water resistant and features a gorgeous UTC display. The whole thing is cased in crystal which makes it virtually indestructible. Go ahead, just try to break the thing. We dare you. Actually, don’t do that.

It’s on sale now for a sprightly $195. What are you waiting for? Your old watch is gross.

We told you about the Mutewatch several months back, and it looks like the touch screen-enabled wonder-watch is almost ready to be purchased.

The watch, by the Swedish company the same name, is an interesting piece of tech. It’s basically a wrist band that features a hidden touch screen. The touch screen is where all that watchy magic happens. This means when it is not in use, it just looks like a stylish wrist one-colored wrist band. Pretty cool, right?

The Mutewatch is pretty expensive, clocking in(get it?) at around $260. Still, if you are a gadget hound, you could do a lot worse than this nifty little watch come July when it officially launches.

Fossil is no stranger to connected wristwatches, but the new Fossil Meta Watch may just take the cake. These watches are built on Texas Instruments’ CC2560 Bluetooth platform. This allows them to receive push notifications from smartphones and tablets. So why bring your smartphone when you can read your favorite tweets and emails right there on your watch? Save you some pocket space at least.

The battery life is also out of this world. The Meta Watch reportedly clocks in at seven full days of battery life before it needs a charge. Compare that to my iPhone’s, um, 2 hours and you’ll see Fossil’s new creation may be money well spent. They officially go on sale in July for around $200 each. May the watch be with you.

Need any more proof that Nike+ is cool? The GPS data pulled from your Nike+ SportWatch system has now been turned into art. Interactive media collective YesYesNo are to blame for the artistic hoo-hawing. The collective pulled data straight from Nike’s servers and began collating them into patterns.

Best of all? The art is individualized. You see, the collective did one runner at a time. They pulled all of their data, distance, speed, where they went etc. Then they transformed the data into an image like the one shown above. Each user of the system has their own unique art.

The collective is far from commercialization, but it’s a still a cool concept that could reap dividends for them down the line. I’d buy a poster of mine, anyways. Although I have ..read more

Just look at these beautiful things! Ziiro is no stranger to cool timepieces. Their new dastardly duo, Aurora and Orbit, may be their coolest looking to date. The new watches tell time with color, as you can see in the photo above.

Time is shown via a mix of colored orbs. There is a slight learning curve when it comes to actually knowing what time it is, but don’t worry, the company’s website has plenty of tutorials. It really isn’t that hard anyways.

These ship in late May and will cost around $180. Get your pre-orders in now, watch fans!

So you want an iPod nano watch case. Why settle for all of the ones out there that have zero diamonds? ZShock has got you covered with their brand new Lunatik iPod nano watch. Guess what? Never again will you go diamondless for it has them in abundance.

Other than that it’s just a standard nano watch case. Nothing wrong with that though. However, you’ll be paying plenty for access to all of those sweet, sweet diamonds. $18,000 to be exact. Yeah, that’s a pretty penny. Actually, it’s more than 100 times the cost of the iPod nano itself. Ouch. Still, the nano also is pathetically devoid of diamonds.

The Lunatik is on sale now. Don’t worry, nobody will call you one for buying one. Well, not to your face anyway.

Nike is all about GPS-integration, and now you can get some of it on the cheap. The company’s Nike+ SportWatch GPS watch is on sale for just $199. The device is partnered up with TomTom for all the GPS love you can shake a satellite stick at.

Basically, this is a watch that keeps tracks of your runs. It works similarly to the Nike+ iPod systems that are floating around but these devices are better for serious runners who don’t want to run the risk of breaking their beloved smartphone. It keeps tracks of your history and records and will also give you an alarm when it’s time to start cooling down.

The units are already available at the pleasantly reduced cost.
