The world of necklaces can be a wild and mysterious one indeed. Enter Ross + Doell and their homage to all things Apple, the iNecklace. This necklace burns with the fire of 1,000 Steve Jobs-approved suns.
The iNecklace is an aluminum pendant with an oh so subtle pulsating LED that takes its pattern from the Apple “breathing” LED on Macs. You know the ones we mean. That’s all there is to it, but is there any more elegant way to show the world your undying love of wearable technology? Not to mention your love of ye olde tech giant Apple.
The necklaces are available now at the price of $75. That’s about 1/7th of an iPad.

Ah, Sony. You never give up do you? At least year’s CES the company showed off a rather bizarre wearable 3D concept. Nobody really felt it was in the cards to become a retail device. Sony, however, had other ideas. This thing is coming and its coming fast. One might even say it’s in, sigh, three dimensions.
This thing features two 1280×720 0.7-inch OLED panels mounted in front of each eye giving the wearer an experience similar to viewing a 750-inch screen from 20m away, as well as 5.1 surround sound from headphones integrated into the Head Mounted Display (HMD).
So we are not quite looking at the holodeck, but perhaps we are inching ever so closer. Thank goodness. This whole set up will cost you around $783. It releases this November ..read more

Fossil has been on the cutting edge wristwatch design for a while now. It comes as no surprise, then, that the company has prepped another fanciful design to add to their collection. Their Meta Watch is everything you could ever hope for in a wristwatch and it is this much closer to being a reality, thanks to its recent passing through the FCC.
The watches sync with your Android phone or tablet in order to do all sorts of cool things. Of course, it’s not out yet so the app selection is non existent at the moment. Expect that to change once these bad boys end up in consumer’s grubby little hands.
They are available for preorder now and launch officially on September 29th. I’ll see you in line at a Fossil ..read more

The worst about reading subtitles in the movie theater? The fact that your face is so comfortable, with no glasses anywhere to be seen. That may soon be changing if Sony and England has anything to say about it.
Sony is developing Subtitle Glasses that allow the wearer to see the subtitles for a film projected right there via the glasses. The company is planning on launching the items next year in England as a sort of trial run for the worldwide market. This, of course, would be of no use if you are one of those people who knows other languages. If you are like the rest of us, however, then your face is in for a treat.
We’ll let you know more as this develops, in the meantime try brushing ..read more

The world of cool headphones is a crowded one indeed. SOL Republic(Soundtrack of Life Republic) is a new company that has entered the fray in a big way. Their angle? A cool little line of headphones known as Amps and Tracks.
The line up consists of some moderately priced amp-in-ear headphones and ear buds. They offer clear, and HD if needed, sound. The company also boasts they are nearly indestructible. We’ll let you know about that once we take them to our very own Large Hadron Collider we keep in the basement of Crunchwear HQ. Or we can use our blender.
These headphones and buds will be available at the end of the month in a full range of colors. The prices range from $60-$100. Not bad for studio quality ear muffs.

You know what most pairs of binoculars lack? The ability to see into the third dimension. That’s not the case anymore thanks to Sony and their new pairs of 3-D enabled binocs.
The DEV-3 and DEV-5 digital binoculars are the world’s first digital binoculars. They shoot in HD, to make matters even cooler. The only difference between the two models? The DEV-5 has a built-in “GPS receiver that automatically geotags video clips as you travel” and 20x zoom versus the DEV-3’s 10x zoom and lack of GPS.
How much does the third dimension cost? The DEV-3 will set you back $1,400, while the DEV-5 is $2,000. Both will be released this November.

There’s been some cool advancements in sonar technology in the past few years, but nothing compares to this. Grathio Labs has readied its Tacit. This device could single handily revolutionize how the blind deal with their surroundings. Why? The Tacit is a hand-mounted sonar device.
The system works using ultrasonic sensors that are mounted to a device that the user simply holds in their hand. Dangerous objects are sent to the user via an Arduino-controlled controller and the end result is smooth sailing in the walking department. The device lets the user know if objects are close by squeezing around their hand, which seems more elegant than letting out a beep or something.
The whole thing is powered simply by a 9V battery. Of course, it’s a ways off from being available ..read more

The world of headsets is an ever-evolving one indeed. Enter Razer and their brand new, and uber functional, Tiamat headset design. These bad boys are being touted as being able to create “virtual surround sound.” Sounds pretty cool, right?
It works by using a veritable boatload of drivers, 10 actually, to produce this sort of fake-yet-real 7.1 sound. It’s like wearing four headphones instead of two, or however else audiophiles tend to describe better sound. Who knows anymore. Anyways, the headset has a front, rear, side, and center channel in each earpiece along with a subwoofer. Each one of these can be changed manually.
They ship later this year and will cost you around $180. That’s only $18 a driver.

Ah headphones. So many of you. So little time. Where to even start, right? Well V-Moda’s brand new Crossfade M-80 headphones are as good a place as any. Wait, doesn’t the name M-80 sound familiar? Besides being a popular weapon for the killing of people, the M-80 is also a previously released pair of headphones by V-Moda. Wait, what? Don’t worry these are the new M-80s.
This is a remix more than a re-release. Sure, it may look exactly like the venerable M-80 but deep inside that hood lurks some new tech. There’s memory foam padding on the earcups which makes for a more comfortable listening session. There are also two kevlar-wrapped cables with a microphone and different in-line controls are included to support most smartphones. These headphones are also sturdy. ..read more
